Skomer Island, just off the Pembrokeshire Coast, is surrounded by a Marine Nature Reserve and full of stunningly beautiful bird life and vistas.
In April the bluebells start to flower and migrant birds begin to arrive on the island. From April until the end of September the haunting sound of Manx Shearwaters can be heard as they return to their burrows after dark. Seal pupping begins on the beaches and caves in August and continues through to the end of October.
There are guided shearwater walks in August and September and the coastal path around the island makes a stunning half day walk.
Staying overnight on Skomer you experience the tranquillity and spectacular sunsets after the day visitors go home. The bunkhouse is graded 3 star and has been developed sustainably. It provides simple, comfortable accommodation with electricity and hot water generated from the sun. There are private bedrooms and a shared kitchen, dining room and library. Pillows and duvets are available, bring sheets.
