Perhaps the best situated small hostel in the Lake District. Peaceful, in 12 acres of its own woodland, but close to the heart of the Lakes, ten minutes from Coniston Water and Windermere, and on the edge of the famous Grizedale Forest Park with its trails and sculptures.
Superb area for walking, cycling and all outdoor activities. Also for quiet retreat, relaxation, study and artistic pursuits.
The Rookhow Centre is within the former stables of the nearby historic Quaker meeting house which is also available for conferences and group sessions.
Guests find the centre warm, comfortable and well equipped.
It has electric heating and an optional wood burning stove.
There are three sleeping areas, a self-catering kitchen/dining area and picnic tables and barbecue for warm days.
There is a bonfire area within the centre’s private woodand.
