Set in the scenic coastal village of Helmsdale, halfway between Inverness and John O´Groats, Helmsdale Hostel is an ideal stop when travelling to and from Orkney.
On the main Land´s End to John O´Groats route, and surrounded by nearby Marlyn hills, the hostel is popular with cyclists and walkers.
The surrounding area also offers beach walks, bird watching and gold panning opportunties.
The hostel has excellent facilities and all rooms are en-suite. Breakfasts can be provided with prior arrangement. Groups, families and individuals all welcome. There is on-street car parking at the side of the hostel.
Public Transport:
Helmsdale is served by the City Link bus service and is on the railway line from Inverness to Thurso.
Directions:
The hostel is situated on the corner of the A9 and Old Caithness Road. Arriving by bus: walk up the slope for 100 metres. The Hostel is after the old church on your left. (200 metres). Arriving by train: Cross over the old bridge, turn right along Dunrobin Street, then left up Stafford Street. Hostel is at the top of the slope on the left (half a mile).
