Dog friendly accommodation is offered by the Independent Hostels listed at the bottom of this feature. These hostels provide self catering dog freindly accommodation in great rural locations ideal for walks and wild runs. The hostels are perfect for a self catering holiday and because they provide accommodation for periods as short as one night they are also ideal for a stop-over on a long journey.
Always pre-arrange your visit with the hostel manager and then you will be sure your dog is welcome. Some hostels are on farms where livestock and farm dogs are around, so it is worth checking if you dog needs to be kept on a lead when outside the building.
Deepdale Backpackers in North Norfolk provides dog friendly holiday accommodation. They have a dog friendly room in the hostel and a dog friendly Tipi (see photo below - this is not the North Pole!). The Deepdale Backpackers website (which can be reached via the link on the list below) has a dog friendly guide to the area including a dog-friendly pub, dog-friendly cafes and dog-friendly beaches as well as ideas for walks. Deepdale's puppy (Merlin) and border collie (Jack) work with the staff everyday and can be seen 'doing the rounds' on site.
